Viewing the Landscape: NCCL Video Discussion #3

The online discussion series continues this month with Julian Smith on Friday, December 18 at 3:00pm ET.

Julian Smith is a noted architect, scholar, conservator and educator. His career has included serving as Chief Architect for Canada's National Historic Sites program, a private architectural practice working on culturally significant places in Canada and around the world, and most recently as Executive Director of Willowbank and President of ICOMOS Canada. He has made, and continues to make, a profound contribution to the field of heritage conservation on the theory and practice of cultural landscapes.

Julian’s presentation ‘Viewing the Landscape’ is inspired by his recent travels to Australia, India and China where his discussions with ICOMOS members and participation in UNESCO meetings has suggested to him that it is the way we view the landscape that is the beginning of giving it cultural meaning.

Beginning with Julian’s session, the online discussion series moves to a set time of 3:00pm ET the third Friday of every month. Please email secretariat@icomos.canada.org at least one day in advance to pre-register for a session.
